How Should a Baby Room Floor Be?

How Should a Baby Room Floor Be?

Carpets

When a woman learns she is pregnant, she thinks about many things until birth. One of the most considered things while making the house suitable for the most precious creature to say hello to the world is how the baby's room will be decorated. Walls, furniture, and perhaps most importantly, the floor. If you want a decoration where your baby will not just spend a few months of their life but will learn to walk, play games, and spend time as they grow, the floor you use in the decoration should be suitable for all these processes. Therefore, you will need to prepare an easily cleanable and impact-resistant floor. Stone, marble, and ceramic floor coverings should not be used in a room where your baby will grow by falling and getting up, to prevent injuries. However, choosing a durable floor is important for you to use for many years without renovation. It is quite difficult to control the cleanliness of everything your baby picks up from the floor, as they try to put everything they get into their mouths. You can use carpets, tatami mats, laminate flooring, and bamboo coverings on the baby room floor.

Tatami Mats

It is very important for your baby's health that the floor is easily cleanable and that you prefer carpets that can be washed periodically. Antibacterial, waterproof, and non-slip carpets can be preferred for baby rooms. The fibers of carpets that shed can cause respiratory problems in your baby, and your baby can swallow these fibers. If you are going to use a carpet on the floor, you should prefer carpets with less polyester, that are soft and do not pill. It is also necessary to avoid synthetic carpets colored with chemical dyes. You can also use tatami mats, also known as play or flooring mats made of foam and rubber, which have been frequently used in baby and children's rooms recently, on the floor of the room. Tatami mats, which can be modular or single pieces, can be used to cover the entire floor of the room or to create a play area in the room. It should not be forgotten that synthetic polymers such as Ethylene Vinyl Acetate - EVA polymer are used in the production of tatami mats, which are used on the floors of nurseries because they are easy to clean and provide softness on the floor, thus preventing injuries. Although they provide a safe area for babies, these mats are produced from synthetic polymers.

Laminate Flooring

Wood and cork flooring, which are easier to clean than carpets and tatami mats, can also be used on the floor. You can make the room look more spacious by choosing flooring with calming colors as well as vibrant ones. If you live in humid regions, flooring with high moisture resistance can be preferred.

Bamboo

Recently, we encounter many products made of bamboo in our country as well. Bamboo towels, carpets, furniture, floor coverings... Bamboo flooring is increasingly preferred due to its aesthetic appearance, which is more modern than ordinary parquet flooring, and its ecological properties. Flooring made from bamboo trees is very resistant to moisture. Bamboo grows much faster than other types of trees, and after the bamboo tree is cut, it sprouts new shoots and continues to grow. Thus, no tree is completely destroyed while producing environmentally friendly products. Bamboo floors do not collect dust and are the easiest products to clean. At the same time, bamboo floors do not swell like laminate floors due to their water resistance.
