Weekend Trip to Istanbul: Anadolu Hisarı
Anadolu Hisarı, located in the district of the same name, is one of Istanbul's most important historical structures. It was built between 1389 and 1403 by Yıldırım Beyazıt. The location is also the narrowest point of the Bosphorus. When Anadolu Hisarı was built, it aimed to facilitate the Ottomans' passage to the European side and simultaneously prevent aid from reaching the Byzantines.
The fortress, which has a rectangular structure, has walls both inside and outside. It has four floors. Behind Anadolu Hisarı is Göksu Stream, and on the other side of the Bosphorus is Rumeli Hisarı. You can visit these three beautiful places for a weekend and spend a day intertwined with history. There is also parking service for those arriving by car.Historic Places of Istanbul
Those who go to the fortress can also visit Küçüksu Mansion nearby, where you can spend delightful hours with its architecture and location. You can eat something at the cafes right next to the mansion and sip your coffee overlooking the Bosphorus. Another structure close to the fortress is Hidiv Mansion. You can visit both on the same day. For those who want to enjoy rakı and fish, it is worth mentioning the boats anchored on Göksu Stream.
