The World's Highest Waterfalls: Angel Falls and Jog Falls
Angel FallsLocated in Venezuela, the waterfall's height was measured at 979 meters according to official measurements in 1949. The waterfall, with an average width of 107 meters, is also situated within Canaima National Park, which is ranked as the seventh largest national park in the world.
Angel Falls is named after pilot Jimmie Angel, who discovered it and later lost his life in a plane crash.
Approximately 18 times higher than Niagara Falls, the waters of Angel Falls descend from its highest point, a sheer 807 meters, without encountering any obstacles. Scientists call this a "free fall." Afterward, the water continues its journey, hitting a rock and finally meeting the base at 979 meters. The waterfall's waters merge with the Churun River to the north.Jog FallsJog Falls, also known as Gersoppa Falls, is located in the southwest of India on the Sharavati River. As the river cascades into a canyon from a height of 253 meters, it divides into four waterfalls named Raja, Roarer, Rocket, and Rani. Bungalows have been built on the sides of the river to observe this unique sight. While the waterfalls flow as thin streams before the monsoons, they reach their maximum capacity with the onset of the monsoon season.
