How is a QR Code Used in the Optical Industry
What is a Wand or Pen Scanner in a Barcode Reader?
In today's world, QR code systems, initially used in the pharmaceutical industry, require each medicine to have a different barcode number to allow for individual tracking. Accordingly, the barcode number must be different for each of the approximately 1000 types of medicines. Industrial barcode printer systems are also a widely used and advantageous application in the healthcare sector, as well as in the optical sector. These models are the cheapest and simplest barcode readers in industrial barcode printer systems. Wand readers do not have a moving part. The user passes the optical head of the readers over the barcodes to generate the necessary scanning signals for decoding. Furthermore, the sole function of wands is to convert the optical signal into an analog electrical signal. These electrical signals are then sent to electronic units for decoding. Therefore, a common characteristic of all wand types is that the optical head of the pens must come into contact with the surface of the barcodes or labels.
What are CCD Barcode Readers?
CCD readers generally operate with a technology similar to modern video and camera technology. These scanners first capture and scan the complete image of the desired codes. CCD scanners recognize barcodes with their wide heads, typically by illuminating them with red light. Although industrial barcode printer and reader systems have contactless reading technology, the reading depth of CCD readers is generally one to two centimeters.
