A Walking Holiday, The Lycian Way

The Lycian Way, meaning "Land of Light", has been chosen as the most beautiful long-distance walking route in the world. It is a trade route used by the Lycians around 3000 BC when they came to the Teke region. It has a total track of 509 kilometers and stretches from Fethiye to Antalya. It is a natural wonder where every shade of green and blue can be seen, especially in the spring months. Its fame spread throughout the world as it was projected in 1999. At the same time, the fact that it is an extremely historical road is also the reason for this. Many ancient cities appear along the way. The Lycian Way starts exactly from the village of Faralya in Fethiye. The road, which ends in Antalya, is one of the indispensable routes for many walking enthusiasts today. While the road should be walked with overnight stays, daily distances are also covered in certain sections. The 14-kilometer section, particularly in the Derme district of Antalya, is historically important. Gökkaya Bay and the Ancient City of Istlada are important historical sites that will be encountered in this section. Make a plan for yourself to hike in nature accompanied by history, the sea, forests, and beautiful olive groves at many points along the route.
